City Hall's drive for density pushes aside community concerns
A cautionary tale from San Diego describing the push by developers and officials wanting to “build, build, build” that ignored the concerns of community planning groups, activists and homeowners -- without achieving more affordability.
“Councilman Kent Lee readily admits that building by itself won’t create a reduction in housing prices and rent: ‘I don’t think tomorrow, even if we built another 10,000 units, we’d magically see the cost of housing go down...it doesn’t just magically reverse itself.’”
